Dr. Zhou joined MRSI Systems in 2019 as the Senior Director of Strategic Marketing. He is located in China to help develop new projects, customers, applications and markets. He also helps strengthen the relationship with current key accounts, given his extensive photonics network in that region, and helps develop the company’s market strategy and product roadmaps, drive the development of new products, and diversify MRSI’s product offerings to target higher growth market segments.
Dr. Zhou has more than 20 years of experience in semiconductor, industrial laser, and optical communication industries. Most recently, he was Senior Director of R&D in Neophotonics China. Prior to Neo, Dr. Zhou was NPI (new product introduction) and Product Engineering Director (Asia Region) at Oclaro China, Director of NPI Operations at Sanmina-SCI (in Greater China), and Head of NPI Operations in JDSU Shenzhen where he worked with our Customer Support Team including Avy and Jason. His career started in Charted Semiconductor Manufacturing, now renamed to be GlobalFoundries in Singapore as a senior lithography engineer. Dr. Zhou received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology and Master & Ph.D. Degree in Automation from Xi’an Jiaotong University. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at Sino-Germany Center in Shanghai Jiaotong University, focusing on laser sensing application. He holds more than 10 issued and pending patents in the areas of medical laser, laser modulation and 3D printers etc.
Dr. Zhou has an impressive track record in those large corporations and small start-up companies. He is a talented R&D and NPI operational leader with deep, cross-functional management in the whole product life cycle strong leadership and operations management success with contributions built world-class R&D and NPI operation, program management, manufacturing, supply chain and supporting operations. From managing product engineering his extensive experiences cover different product portfolios, including product design, process development, testing and qualification, production ramp-up and improvement on quality, cost and delivery. Also has a successful track record of implementing systems and process improvements for internal and external manufacturing, solid experiences of managing large operations and engineering groups continuously to improve efficiency, productivity and quality resulting with strong business strategy and financial results focus, consistently demonstrates the outstanding performance.
He has also been involved in advanced photonics areas such as medical devices, 3D printing, and LiDAR. He has strong connections in fiber optics/photonics industry, deep understanding in automation, and broad exposure to multiple market applications. Dr. Zhou joined MRSI due to our great products, great people, and good customer service. He is excited to join MRSI now with the opportunity to contribute to the company’s growth.
